Ladies Weekend 2010 |
|
Yes the Ladies have been away – so soon after Christmas as well!! This time 8 of us Joined Galloway’s on the Mystery Reunion Weekend which was held in Bristol.
We left Friday morning and went to Oxford for lunch only stopping at South Minns for coffee. The Oxford visit was very short and only allowed us to test out one pub called the Grapes – very good food and cheap £9 for 2 meals. Result!! This left plenty of money in the Kitty for drinks. Back to the Coach and onward to Bristol where we arrived at the Hilton about 4pm, plenty of time for swimming and checking out the bodies in the Gym! Sauna, Steam Room and Jacuzzi have all been well checked and approved by the girls. Onto the evening, let down by lack of veg being served buffet style, complained about this and received 2 bottles of wine FOC Result!! Had a lady singing to us in the evening and we managed to dance and have a good time.
The next day we went off to Bristol for the day, visited the SS Great Britain ship in the harbour and looked round the museum. Afterwards we went onto the ferry to Bristol for retail therapy looking for costumes for the evenings Rainbow Gala, pictures are below, we all looked Fabulous and won 2 bottles of Champaign for our efforts, this with more free wine and yet another bottle of fizz for knowing too much music for telly programmes, we all had good time. Check out the pics for the space hoppers, they were just left in the bar area, we thought it would be rude just to leave them there. Yes we are in the Hilton Hotel on Space Hoppers!!! Good job it’s only a 4 star hotel!!
The next day we packed and left the hotel to go and see Longleat house where we were shown round some of the places where the public doesn’t normally go to, fascinating to see especially Lord Baths personal rooms and paintings. Don’t have any pics, not allowed to photo inside, but well worth a visit.
Afterwards we got onto the Coach and where taken to Swindon to another Hilton hotel for lunch. Very good food but drinks were a bit pricey. Then back home for a well earned rest , took time for our legs to recover from the Space Hoppers!
Many thanks to the Ladies who attended, Jill, Carole, Evelyn, Adele, Maggie, Christine, Tracey and me Jan

Ladies Weekend 2009 |
|
Yet again four of our Ladies joined the Galloway’s Mystery Trip, this time we stayed in a four star hotel at Daventry. On the way we visited a Garden Centre for morning coffee and in the afternoon we went to Bletchley Park, the home of the Code Breakers during WW2. Very interesting for all the men on the trip, a bit too technical for the ladies, but we managed to entertain ourselves.
The next day we went to Stratford upon Avon, where Maureen and Evelyn got picked on by a TV crew to be interviewed. There are several really old buildings including the house where Shakespeare was born. We also saw it from the Coffee shop window (the day was very cold). Back onto the coach and on to a place in the Cotswolds called Broadway, where we found a nice pub, for lunch and a G&T. In the afternoon we went to Batsford Arboretum where we escaped the hail storms by dashing to the tea room for a nice cream tea.
The following morning we went to Hatton Country World, a shopping village. There was also a Farmers Market with fruit flavoured Vodka for sale, so plenty of samples before buying two large bottles. Back onto the coach for more G&T and on to Leighton Buzzard for a train ride after which we returned home. Yet another great weekend away with plenty of laughs.
Thanks Girls – until next time.
